Manager, Production Control, Mobile Equipment & Fabrication Tesla Motors, Inc. 152,000•228,000 USD paid holidays, flex time, 401(k) United States, California, Fremont Aug 04, 2026 What to Expect Tesla's Production Control Equipment team keeps factory operations moving through reliable mobile equipment and responsive fabrication support. We are seeking a Manager of Production Control•Mobile Equipment and Fabrication to lead multi-shift maintenance and fabrication operations through multiple supervisors. In this role, you will ensure forklifts, tuggers, carts, lifts, and related mobile equipment are maintained and continuously improved across all factory areas, while directing heavy weld and fabrication, machining, and high-bay rack repair and build so the shop executes effectively and maintains schedule. Beyond day-to-day maintenance, this role plays a key part in new vehicle launches and the integration of new technologies•supporting the factory from early-stage equipment readiness through full production. You will serve as a critical resource across all factory operations, ensuring mobile equipment and fabrication capabilities evolve alongside Tesla's manufacturing ambitions. Success is measured by fleet uptime, reduced repair turnaround time, and the team's ability to adapt and deliver in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. What You'll Do Lead multi-shift mobile equipment and fabrication operations through multiple supervisors. Own four-shift performance for maintenance of forklifts, tuggers, carts, lifts, and related fleet, plus heavy weld/fab, machining, and high-bay rack repair and build Manage fabrication and repair timelines, resources, communications, quality, and risks•uncover roadblocks, define critical paths, identify resource constraints, and clear issues that impact schedule and turnaround time Drive fleet uptime and reliability. Ensure maintenance, repairs, and upgrades keep the mobile equipment fleet available and performing; lead corrective and preventive actions on chronic issues Oversee work tracking and reporting for maintenance and fabrication, including parts/material flow and outsourced processes; keep complex, multi-shift workloads organized and visible Apply manufacturing knowledge across machining, welding, materials, and related fabrication techniques to prioritize work, uphold quality, and provide design-for-manufacture feedback to stakeholders Lead and develop multiple supervisors and technical teams. Coach, mentor, and hold accountable; build capability, succession, and a high-ownership culture across shifts Establish and sustain operating standards, safety practices, and metrics that make fleet uptime and repair turnaround performance visible; partner with Production Control leadership and manufacturing to align priorities and improve week over week What You'll Bring
Required:
Minimum 5 years of experience leading multi-shift technical teams in maintenance, production, or similar manufacturing support environments; fabrication/CNC or mobile equipment teams preferred Degree or equivalent experience preferred; engineering background or technical degree/experience is a strong plus. Proficiency with MS Office required; experience with CMMS, work-order/job tracking systems, or CAD/CAM tools is a plus
Required:
Demonstrated experience delivering or leading the delivery of complex fabricated parts, repairs, or assemblies•machining, welding, materials, sheet metal, or related fabrication techniques preferred
Preferred:
Working knowledge of mobile equipment maintenance (forklifts, tuggers, carts, lifts, or similar), or a clear track record of leading technical trades with rapid domain learning
Required:
Demonstrated ability to lead through multiple supervisors•coaching leaders and technical teams, driving accountability, and building a collaborative, high-performance culture
Required:
High level of organizational skill, communication, and attention to detail; ability to multitask across complex problems in a fast-paced, highly fluid, multi-shift environment
