DESCRIPTION

Leads all activities associated with multiple / comprehensive technical aspects of theater productions, including procedures and administering / monitoring budgetary expenditures consistent with budgetary allocations, and training of staff / students. May be responsible for leading the maintenance of theater venues, shops, and storage, including facilities and stage equipment, tools and materials, and leading the implementation of operational procedures for all users within the facilities. Reporting to the Director of Operations & Technical Production of the Campus Performances & Events Office and receiving some work direction from the Sr. Production Production Manager, this position will be responsible for supporting a team of technical and operational staff across CPEO. The Production Manager provides technical expertise in the planning and producing of CPEO events. Responsible for ensuring sound, lighting, and video services properly support the programs of the Campus Performances and Events Office. This position will primarily serve as one of the production managers for CPEO & other Arts and Activations initiatives, managing operational facets of the facility, including audio-visual system maintenance, repair, inventory, training, mentorship & advising of student staff. This role ensures day-to-day operational and technical activities run smoothly. This position will apply industry best practices to coordinate and operate the technical support of various events from performance art, dance productions, festivals, and full-scale music and theater performances. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional to provide comprehensive coordination and management oversight of events. This role supports the Sr. Production Manager in supervising and training a student technical team. The Production Manager will help support the hiring and training of student technicians in the safe use, operations, and maintenance of audio, visual, and lighting equipment. The Production Manager role will also support other Campus Performance and Events Office areas, including events and traditions across campus. This position may serve in various production capacities given the needs of the production season. In the absence of the CPEO Sr. Production Manager, this role is responsible for all aspects of leading staff, contracted crew members, and student technicians in support of the execution of events and performances. This role guides workload and schedules proper staffing for event at CPEO managed venues. QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. A high level of understanding and skill to operate lighting, video, and audio systems to produce theatrical performances. Demonstrated organizational and project management skills to work successfully with clients to produce high-quality events that meet client needs and appropriately represent the campus. Demonstrated negotiation, analytical and research skills to interpret data, prepare conclusions and successfully negotiate terms and conditions of contracts and proposals that are in the best interest of the institution. Knowledge of crowd management, crowd safety protocols, security and emergency procedures related to small, medium and large-scale gatherings. Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills to communicate complex instructions and information to disparate constituencies.

• Skilled in the ability to understand and translate technical documents for other nontechnicalstaff. Ability to give clear directives and use independent, rational judgment to make optimal decisions. Strong working knowledge of University and collective bargaining policies, practices, rules, regulations, etc., including safety rules and regulations.
• Strong Strong knowledge / skills in all aspects of financial and personnel administration and producing timely reports. Well versed in developing staffing schedules and performance management. Strong problem recognition / avoidance / resolution skills.
• Established skill in analyzing information, problems, situations and procedures to define the problem or objective, identify relevant concerns or factors and formulatelogical and objective conclusions.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet event needs. This position works late nights and on weekends regularly as required. The job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.

Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range:

$73,800 - $131,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
