DESCRIPTION
Responsible for all activities associated with multiple / comprehensive technical aspects of theater productions, including procedures and administering / monitoring budgetary expenditures consistent with budgetary allocations, and training of staff / students. May be responsible for maintenance of theater venues, shops, and storage, including facilities and stage equipment, tools and materials, and establishing and ensuring implementation of operational procedures for all users within the facilities. Reporting to the Director of Operations & Technical Production of the Campus Performances & Events Office, the Sr. Production Manager position will be responsible for supporting a team of technical and operational staff, primarily focused on the programs and venues of the Campus Performances and Events Office ( CPEO). The Sr. Production Manager provides technical expertise in the planning and producing of events within the amphitheater. Responsible for overseeing sound, lighting, and video services to support the programs of CPEO as well as broader Arts and Activation initiatives. This position will serve as the primary production point of contact for CPEO, managing operational facets of the facility, including audio visual system maintenance, repair, inventory, and the training, mentorship & advising of career and student staff. This role ensures day-to-day operational activities run smoothly. This position will apply industry best practices to coordinate and operate the technical support of a range of events from performance art, dance productions, festivals, and full-scale music and theater performances. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional, to provide comprehensive coordination and management oversight of events. This role is responsible for the supervision and training of a student technical team and providing work direction for other career production and technical professionals. The Sr. Production Manager will effectively hireand train student technicians in the safe use, operations, and maintenance of audio, visual, and lighting equipment. The Sr. Production Manager role will also be supporting other areas of the Campus Performance and Events Office, including events and traditions across campus. This position may serve in a variety ofproduction capacities given the needs of the production season. A cover letter is required to consider an application complete.
QUALIFICATIONS
Mastery level knowledge in multiple technical theater production areas such as lighting, sound, video, costumes, hair / make-up, properties, scenery, scenic treatment, etc.. • A high level of understanding and skill to operate lighting,video, and audio systems to produce theatrical performances. Demonstrated organizational and project management skills to work successfully with clients to produce high quality events that meet client needs and appropriately represent the campus. Demonstrated negotiation, analytical and research skills to interpret data, prepare conclusions and successfully negotiate terms and conditions of contracts and proposals that are in the best interest of the institution. Demonstrated ability to hire, train, and manage student employees. Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills to communicate complex instructions and information to disparate constituencies. Skilled in the ability to understand and translate technical documents for other nontechnicalstaff. Ability to give clear directives and use independent, rational judgment to make optimal decisions. Strong working knowledge of University and collective bargaining policies, practices, rules, regulations, etc., including safety rules and regulations. Strong knowledge of OSHA policies, EH&S safety regulations, and safety equipment. Strong knowledge / skills in all aspects of financial and personnel administration. Experience developing budgets, operating spreadsheet software (Excel), and producing timely reports. Well versed in developing staffing schedulesand performance management. Strong problem recognition / avoidance / resolution skills. •Established skill in analyzing information, problems, situations and procedures to define the problem or objective, identify relevant concerns or factors and formulate logical and objective conclusions. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range:
$73,800 - $131,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
