Job Summary The Production Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting and overseeing daily manufacturing operations to ensure production goals, quality standards, safety requirements, and operational objectives are achieved. This role provides leadership to Production Supervisors and production teams, ensuring efficient utilization of personnel, equipment, and materials while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. The Production Assistant Manager drives continuous improvement initiatives, monitors key performance indicators (KPIs), and collaborates cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Planning, and Human Resources to resolve production challenges and optimize manufacturing performance. The position plays a critical role in workforce development, operational excellence, and achieving customer delivery commitments through effective leadership and Lean Manufacturing practices. Key Responsibilities 1. Production Operations Management Oversee daily manufacturing activities across multiple production lines or departments. Ensure production schedules are met according to customer demand. Monitor productivity, efficiency, and resource utilization. Coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials to achieve output targets. Escalate significant operational issues to the Production Manager. 2. Leadership of Supervisors Directly supervise and coach Production Supervisors. Establish departmental priorities and performance expectations. Conduct regular performance reviews for supervisory staff. Support supervisors in handling personnel issues and conflict resolution. Develop succession plans for supervisors and team leaders. 3. Safety Management Promote a strong safety culture throughout the production organization. Ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety requirements. Lead investigations of accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions. Implement corrective and preventive actions. 4. Quality Management Ensure compliance with product quality standards and customer requirements. Review quality metrics and defect trends. Partner with Quality Engineering to reduce defects and rework. Lead containment and corrective action activities when quality issues arise. 5. Continuous Improvement Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives. Drive waste elimination and process improvements. Monitor and improve key KPIs such as: Productivity Efficiency Yield Scrap OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) Labor utilization Facilitate Kaizen events and improvement projects. 6. Workforce Management Plan staffing requirements based on production forecasts. Manage overtime and labor allocation. Ensure proper training and certification of production personnel. Support employee engagement and retention initiatives. 7.

Cross-Functional Coordination Work closely with:

Planning Quality Manufacturing Engineering Maintenance Supply Chain Human Resources Ensure timely resolution of production constraints. 8. KPI Reporting and Performance Monitoring Analyze operational metrics and identify trends. Present performance results to Production and Operations Management. Develop action plans to address gaps. Track effectiveness of implemented improvements Education Bachelor's degree in: Industrial Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Mechanical Engineering Business Administration Related field Experience 5-8 years of manufacturing experience. 2-5 years of leadership experience supervising supervisors or large production teams.
