Locations:
Lansdowne, VA Team Overview As the Live Event Producer at Alliance Defending Freedom, you will serve on the Audio Visual Services Team, reporting to the Production Manager. You will own the technical and creative production of a portfolio of ADF's live and virtual events—seminars, conferences, webinars, and fundraisers. That includes staging, audio, lighting, video, and livestream. You will also direct the technicians and crew assigned to each event, from the first planning meeting through final event teardown. Key Responsibilities Lead creative concept, production design, and technical execution for events—staging, lighting, video, show flow—from planning through live troubleshooting and post-event asset delivery/archiving. Develop and communicate production schedules, run-of-show docs, technical specs, venue surveys, and logistics (transport, load-in/out). Ensure accessibility (captioning) and proper licensing/clearance for music, video, and imagery used in productions. Oversee AV equipment inventory, maintenance, and upgrade recommendations. Direct AV technicians, freelancers, and vendors during assigned events; manage vendor/venue relationships (scheduling, contracting, day-of coordination); enforce safety practices and insurance/compliance requirements. Partner with Communications, Development, Legal, and other teams to align production with ADF branding and mission; translate stakeholder objectives into technical/creative plans; serve as primary technical contact for event stakeholders, as well as presenters and speakers. Manage production budgets, contingency/redundancy planning, and post-event debriefs (costs, metrics, lessons learned). Research and pilot emerging production technologies, recommending adoption; escalate critical issues to the Production Manager. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in media production, sound engineering, theater, communications, or other related field. 5+ years of experience in live event production, broadcast, or AV technical direction, including demonstrated experience developing creative concepts or production designs for events, not just executing them. Knowledge of live event production principles, including staging, audio engineering, video production, lighting design, and livestreaming platforms. Ability to direct AV technicians, freelancers, and vendors during event preparation and execution, even without formal supervisory authority. Experience show-calling and managing run-of-show documents for complex, multi-day events. Ability to manage multiple events and competing deadlines simultaneously, while troubleshooting technical problems quickly and calmly during live events. Travel to and work on-site at event venues, including some evenings and weekends as events require—approximately 20% travel (85% domestic, 15% international; the ability to obtain a valid passport is required for international travel). Preferred Qualifications
