Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay. Monday•Friday 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM /OnsiteTraining:
Monday•Friday, 9am•5pm (6 weeks onsite)Pay:
$23.08 plus $3.00 shift differentialMust have extensive experience in Editing and/or Writing and/or English Literature and/orJournalismResponsibilities Include:
Proofread complex legal documents to ensure consistency, spelling, dictation, syntax, punctuation, and grammar using the appropriate style (firm style, The Chicago Manual of Style, The Bluebook, and California Style Manual)Compare documents word for word against originals to ensure an accurate conversionReview cross-references, and defined terms for accuracy and review Table of Authorities for accuracy and styleCheck handwritten revisions/electronic red lines against working draft to ensure all corrections are made accuratelyConduct separate checks for the format, text accuracy, and statistical dataEnsure that the content of the document is accurate, clear, and complete and that the material is organized logicallyUse established proofreading marks to note correctionsFollow established policies and procedures at all timesPerform additional duties as assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in English/Journalism or 1 years of legal experience preferredKnowledge of various style guides (The Chicago Manual of Style, AP Style, The Blue Book, and California Style Manual)Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite and other core applications preferredStrong written and verbal communication skills, including expert-level knowledge of the English language, grammar, spelling, and punctuationProven ability to work through complex legal document markups and instructions in a timely manner to meet strict deadlinesAbility to prioritize various requests and deadlines simultaneouslyExceptional attention to detailAbility to interact with clients and team members in a professional and respectful manner at all times.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet pressing deadlinesFamiliarity with legal terminology and a variety of citation and brief formants used in legal work preferredAdditional InformationThe rate of pay for this role at the noted RRD location is $23.08 / hour.
