Job Description:
The Herald-Standard a 6,000-circulation daily and the leading source of information for Fayette and Greene counties, is seeking a
MULTIMEDIA JOURNALIST
to join the staff. We work in collaboration with our sister daily newspaper, the Observer-Reporter in neighboring Washington County, to deliver the news to readers in the southwestern corner of Pennsylvania. Since its founding more than 200 years ago, the Herald-Standard has been an integral part of the growth of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Our staff not only covers all the important events, but we provide vital information to our readers and residents that truly makes a difference in their lives. The right candidate will help the Herald-Standard continue to deliver that important news, sports and feature stories and information to our community. This is an exciting time for us and we need an eager journalist to join our team. As a reporter for the Herald-Standard, you will: Learn and employ all techniques for effective digital storytelling. Maintain clear communication with the editor. Meet daily deadlines with content for print and digital audiences. Contribute to a positive culture of teamwork and collaboration. We are looking for a reporter who can deliver stories quickly and accurately, who is curious about and interested in the community we serve, and who has a proven ability to connect with readers. This journalist is responsible for creating content with our print and digital audiences in mind while also working on special projects for the newspaper. Good audio and visual skills, along with the ability to write clearly and concisely, are a must.

The right candidate will have: A college degree; A drivers license and reliable transportation; An interest in talking and meeting with people; A love of their community, and sharing their perspective with others; Strong reporting, writing, organizational and time management skills; Ability to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom and reprioritize assignments as needed.
