Not controversies. Just real people with real stories that remind us what connects us to each other and to this state. Our producers are the engine behind that. They find the stories, build the trust to tell them right, and bring them to life for an audience that genuinely loves Texas. This is a full-time role based in Austin, with regular travel across the state. What you'll do Research and pitch story ideas for Texas Country Reporter Vet stories, pre-interview subjects, and manage all logistics for your shoots — scheduling, travel, permits, releases, and call sheets Log footage, write scripts, coordinate voiceovers, edit sequences, select music, and mix audio Prepare final exports across broadcast, digital, and social deliverables Contribute to social media content and audience engagement strategies Maintain organized file and asset management throughout each project Shoot video and operate equipment when the job calls for it Hit deadlines and communicate with the rest of the Texas Country Reporter team Collaborate with the greater Texas Monthly Video and Media department What you bring At least 2-3 years of experience in a writing, producing, or media role — broadcast, digital, or otherwise Strong writing skills and an instinct for non-fiction, documentary-style storytelling Genuine curiosity and the communication skills to earn someone's trust quickly Comfort working across the full production process, from pitch to final export Familiarity with DaVinci Resolve (our primary editing tool) or other video editing tools Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite is helpful Photography and/or videography skills are a real asset here Solid organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects on deadline Willingness to travel throughout Texas regularly as part of the job The ability to work out of our Austin office About Texas Country Reporter TCR has been on the air for over 50 years.
