The staff writer is responsible for gathering news, taking photographs and covering all assigned beats. Hard news reporting, feature writing, photography and meeting all assigned deadlines are key functions.

Primary Responsibilities:

Write compelling, accurate and timely news, and features for publication in the weekly newspaper. Covered assigned beats and produce timely, accurate news articles that meet required deadlines. Take and produce digital photos with accurate and informative captions for publication. Update news and information in a timely manner for publication on the newspaper's website. Provide adequate stories and photographs for each issue and special section Update the newspaper's website in a timely fashion as well as its social media platforms This position reports directly to the editor of the Cynthiana Democrat in Harrison County, and is a 40-hour exempt status position with some night and weekend work as necessary for timely news and information coverage.
