Reporter/Broadcast Meteorologist - KIRO TV Position Overview KIRO 7 News is seeking a dynamic News Reporter/Broadcast Meteorologist to join our award-winning news and weather team for Seattle and Western Washington. We are looking for a dynamic on-air presentation and a strong forecaster who also brings and a clear, authoritative delivery to breaking weather coverage. The ideal candidate has a digital-first mindset and connects authentically with viewers on-air and online. The job will feature a mix of general assignment reporting and forecasting. Being a social media dynamo is also a major plus. Please submit your resume, link to demo reel (including breaking weather coverage), and examples of digital/social content. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Proven track record of creating compelling and engaging stories across multiple platforms Deliver clear, accurate, and engaging forecasts across multiple daily newscasts Provide confident, in-depth coverage during severe and breaking weather events Ability to perform well under pressure, experience managing breaking news and meeting strict deadlines Create and publish timely, compelling content for digital, app, streaming, and social platforms Produce weather explainers and enterprise content that enhances viewer understanding Utilize WSI weather systems to build visually compelling graphics and presentations Collaborate with weather team, newsroom, and digital media personnel to integrate weather coverage across all platforms Represent the station at community events and public appearances Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or meteorology atmospheric science, or equivalent education and work experience Minimum 3 years of on-air broadcast experience Proven experience covering severe weather and extended storm events Strong working knowledge of WSI systems Excellent live presentation, ad-libbing, and storytelling skills Demonstrated digital-first approach, including social media and app engagement Flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record Preferred Qualifications Active AMS CBM or Seal of Approval and/or NWA Seal of Approval, or ability to gain certification/seal within reasonable time frame The wage scale for this position is $34.50 per hour to $43.00 per hour.
