Job Description

San Luis Obispo Children's Museum Guest Services Staff The Museum:
The San Luis Obispo Children's Museum (SLOCM) is a non-profit organization that has inspired learning through play since 1990!
Position Overview:
Guest Services Staff are the stars of the Children's Museum. They influence the energy on the Museum floor and are responsible for greeting and assisting guests, as well as ensuring a clean and safe Museum. This position reports directly to the manager on duty (Floor Manager).
Responsibilities:
Interact with guests in the exhibit areas Maintain a cheerful, welcoming and professional environment Perform opening and closing duties including setting up exhibits General facility upkeep such as watering plants, sweeping, mopping, window cleaning, dusting, and cleaning of restrooms Reset exhibits and The Shop Seek opportunities to improve or enhance the guest experience Assist with educational programs and activities, as needed Provide guests with information about memberships, parties, admissions, activities, programs, events, exhibits Monitor guest activity to ensure guests are adhering to Museum rules
Experience/Qualifications:
Energetic, creative, outgoing, friendly personality and positive attitude Proven interest in and/or experience working with children Accuracy and attention to detail, good judgment and problem-solving skills Experience and enjoyment working with the public Commitment to excellent customer service Available to work assigned hours, including weekends & evenings Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team Compliance with museum dress code, Live Scan, and TB clearance Must be able to stand and walk throughout shifts, and lift up to twenty-five pounds Salary This is a part-time position and hours may vary from week to week, although we are happy to work with school schedules. The pay for this position begins at $17 per hour. Must be able to work some weekends and holidays. The museum will be closed on the following days:
Christmas Day and Eve and New Year's Day, Fourth of July, Easter and Thanksgiving Pay:
$17.00 - $18.50 per hour
