Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Set Designer & On-Location Buildout Manager to bring creative visions to life through innovative set design and seamless on-site construction. This role is a temporary project-based one. This role combines artistic direction with hands-on management of buildout processes, ensuring that each set meets the highest standards of safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your craftsmanship, leadership, and artistic talents in a fast-paced, creative environment. Responsibilities Develop detailed set design plans using CAD software, translating conceptual ideas into precise blueprints and visualizations. Lead on-location buildout projects by managing carpentry, scenic construction, painting, rigging, and fabrication activities to bring designs from paper to reality. Oversee the safe use of power tools, hand tools, ladders, and heavy lifting equipment during construction and installation processes. Coordinate with production teams to ensure adherence to blueprint specifications, safety protocols, and performance requirements for props and scenery. Supervise on-site crews during set assembly, ensuring work is completed efficiently while following safe work practices and manual handling guidelines. Read blueprints accurately to interpret technical drawings for scenic construction and stage rigging setups. Maintain clear communication with all team members regarding project timelines, safety procedures, and quality standards. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations related to construction painting, heavy lifting, scaffold use, and on-location buildout activities. Experience Proven experience in scenic design or set construction Strong knowledge of CAD software applications Experience building from CADs & other detailed plans Hands-on experience with manual handling tasks including heavy lifting and the safe operation of power tools and ladders. Familiarity with blueprint reading and following detailed specifications for set construction projects. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail. Knowledge of safe work practices related to construction painting, heavy lifting procedures, scaffolding setup, and equipment use. Join us in creating captivating worlds that inspire audiences!
Pay:
$20.00 - $30.00 per hour
