A Set or Exhibit Designer designs display booths or exhibits for museums, galleries or trade shows. Develops drawings and plans to accommodate the specific space, lighting and temperature requirements of materials to be exhibited; builds or supervises building of exhibits. Designs stage sets and scenery for performances, primarily for live theater performances, or sets for filmed performances or for events such as press conferences. Works with directors and producers to plan props and materials needed for a show.

Job Description Blair Inc. is a custom design and fabrication exhibit house that has served the tradeshow and museum exhibit worlds for over 70 years. "Team player" is such an overused phrase at this point, but Blair, Inc. is a company whose success is built from people willing to come together, help each other out, and work towards a goal of making every project end with a happy client. Members of the design team play an important role in that by working closely with the fabrication, project management, and I&D teams to adapt designs as requirements change, build on past lessons learned, and incorporate production efficiencies with great design. We are looking for an experienced, senior-level exhibit designer to join our team with the potential to grow into a management position. The ideal candidate will have a stellar portfolio that showcases creative examples of built designs. This candidate will possess a strong work ethic, a drive to learn & grow, can take ownership of a project, and follow it through from concept to completion. As stated before, this position carries the opportunity for growth, based on experience and demonstrated skills and performance into a management position as the head of the design department. Responsibilities Create custom designs for tradeshows, museums, and corporate clients Create dynamic design proposal packages for use in client sales pitches Coordinate internally with account managers & directly with clients from planning phases through execution of projects Generate detail drawings for shop construction & client approval Collaborate with shop personnel during planning & construction phases Collaborate with the I&D department on new designs & builds to ensure on-site installation success Participate in client sales pitches Independently manage individual projects
Qualifications:
BA/BS in Exhibit Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, or related field A minimum of 5 years experience designing / detailing museums, tradeshows, and permanent displays Experienced in use of 3D Rendering/CAD software, with AutoCAD and 3DS Max highly preferred Knowledge of industry trends, materials, and construction / installation techniques Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite & Microsoft Office Attention to detail and maintain a high quality of work To Apply Please send a resume & portfolio example
