The Audio Engineer Lead is responsible for overseeing and executing all audio production for weekly worship services, rehearsals, and assigned church events. This position serves as the primary audio engineer for Sunday worship and provides leadership, technical expertise, and quality control for the church's audio systems and audio production team. Working under the direction of the Technology Manager and in collaboration with the Minister of Music, worship leaders, musicians, pastors, and production team members, the Audio Engineer Lead ensures that all audio elements are prepared, balanced, and executed at a consistently high standard. Key Responsibilities Serve as the lead audio engineer for Sunday worship services, rehearsals, and other designated services or special events. Be proficient in operating Front of House, Stage and Streaming audio systems to provide clear, balanced, and consistent sound throughout the worship environment. Prepare the audio system weekly by conducting system checks, verifying signal flow, testing microphones and inputs, confirming console configurations, and ensuring equipment is ready for rehearsals and services. Coordinate with worship leaders, musicians, pastors, and the Minister of Music to understand service requirements and execute audio needs effectively. Participate in rehearsals, sound checks, and pre-service production preparation to ensure all audio elements are properly configured before services begin. Troubleshoot and resolve audio-related issues quickly during rehearsals, worship services, and events to minimize disruptions. Assess, Cross-Train and Assign audio team members/contractors to be familiar/comfortable with all audio positions across campuses Develop and maintain consistent audio workflows, console configurations, gain structure, microphone techniques, and operational standards. Assist the Technology Manager with the maintenance, organization, and inventory of audio equipment, including mixing consoles, microphones, wireless systems, stage boxes, cabling, monitors, and related equipment. Identify equipment issues, maintenance needs, and potential system improvements and communicate recommendations to the Technology Manager. Collaborate with livestream and broadcast production personnel to ensure appropriate audio signal routing and consistency between the in-room and online worship experiences. Participate in Worship Production Meetings and other planning meetings as requested to support upcoming services, events, and special productions. Maintain organized documentation of audio system configurations, signal flow, console files, and standard operating procedures as needed.
