September 24, 2026 Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Audio Engineer Instructor to provide on-site instruction for U.S. Navy and Marine Corps students at the Naval School of Music. The instructor will provide one-on-one and group instruction, prepare students for proficiency assessments, support live ensembles, maintain student records, and assist with instructional audio equipment. Approximately 500 hours of audio engineer training are anticipated during the base contract period. The actual schedule will follow the Naval School of Music Master Training Schedule. Primary Responsibilities Teach live sound reinforcement, mixing, signal processing, sound design, and ear training. Teach audio-system setup, networking, RF coordination, troubleshooting, and optimization. Prepare students for proficiency assessments and provide remediation when needed. Support live ensemble productions in multiple musical genres. Document student progress and maintain required training records. Set up and perform routine checks of instructional audio equipment. Required Qualifications Associate's or bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Technology, or Recording Arts. Multiple years of live sound production experience or teaching experience at an accredited institution. Ability to teach current audio engineering technology and live production techniques. Proficiency with Yamaha CL, QL, and DM consoles. Proficiency with Dante networks and Audinate software. Experience with Meyer Sound systems, Shure wireless systems, and SMAART software. Experience with Apple Logic Pro. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to carry audio equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Ability to obtain military installation access and satisfy applicable Non-Critical Sensitive security requirements. Former military applicants must have received an honorable discharge. Previous active-duty experience as a military Sound Engineer is preferred. Required Application Materials Letter of Application describing teaching philosophy and relevant experience.
