Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Audio Engineer Instructor to provide professional instruction and technical mentorship at the U.S. Navy's Naval School of Music (NAVSOM) in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This position offers an exciting opportunity to train future Navy and Marine Corps Audio Engineers in live sound reinforcement, production technology, recording techniques, and professional audio systems. The successful candidate will work directly with military students in both classroom and one-on-one instructional settings while supporting live ensemble performances and maintaining instructional equipment.

Responsibilities As the Audio Engineer Instructor, you will: Deliver one-on-one and classroom instruction to Audio Engineering students. Teach live sound reinforcement, production concepts, signal flow, audio networking, and system optimization. Prepare students for proficiency assessments and certification requirements. Develop individualized lesson plans based on student performance assessments. Provide technical support during musical ensemble rehearsals and performances. Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate training records. Conduct incoming and ongoing proficiency assessments. Provide remediation and coaching for students requiring additional instruction. Assist with curriculum improvement by recommending updates to instructional materials. Perform operational checks and routine maintenance of instructional audio equipment. Maintain classrooms, studios, and training spaces in a professional and safe condition. Complete required administrative documentation and reporting. Participate in required orientation and instructor certification provided by NAVSOM. Attend required government training and briefings.

Required Qualifications Candidates should possess:

Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Audio Engineering, Music Technology, Recording Arts, or a closely related discipline. Several years of professional experience in live sound engineering. Experience teaching audio engineering or serving as an instructor, trainer, or professor is highly preferred.

Ability to safely lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Excellent communication and instructional skills. Strong organizational and documentation abilities. Preferred Qualifications Prior military service (Honorably Discharged). Experience serving as a military Sound Engineer. Experience training musicians or audio professionals. Experience supporting large musical productions and live events. Familiarity with military training environments. Security Requirements Applicants must be able to successfully complete all required government background screening and installation access requirements. Security processing will begin after contract award. Work Schedule Approximately 10-20 hours per week Monday through Friday Schedule varies depending on student instruction and ensemble requirements No weekend instruction anticipated Government holidays observed Annual holiday shutdown during the Christmas/New Year period

Pay:
