Wayside UCC Sound Technician Wayside United Church of Christ Federal Way, WA Job Details Part-time $23 - $25 an hour 2 hours ago Qualifications Zoom Research Technical support Live event audio projects Facebook Video conferences (communication methods) Full Job Description General Purpose The Sound Technician is responsible for preparing and operating the Wayside UCC church's audio and livestream equipment for Sunday worship services, helping ensure clear, consistent sound and reliable online participation. Application closes Sunday 9/27 at midnight. Sound and Livestream Duties Open the church promptly at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday and ensure the church building temperature is appropriate for the service. Service ends at 11:00; the shift ends at 11:30. Set up the viewing system in the Fellowship Hall before church and put it away after church. Set up, test, and operate microphones and sound equipment used by the pastor, musicians, and other worship participants. Operate the soundboard and maintain consistent, appropriate sound quality throughout the service. Manage Zoom and Facebook Live, ensuring that audio and video are functioning properly for online participants. Monitor online participation and verbally communicate appropriate questions, prayer requests, and comments to the pastor or worship leader. Maintain sound and livestream equipment, report problems, and help ensure equipment remains in working order. Replace batteries as needed. Research sound, livestream, and related technology and recommend additional equipment when needed. Perform other occasional sound, livestream, or worship-technology duties reasonably requested by the pastor or appropriate church leadership. For vacation or sick days, coordinate substitute A/V support coverage and coordinate with worship leads; train subs if none are available among the church. The Sound Technician has the right of first refusal t o provide A/V support using the church sound system for other services held at Wayside UCC that provide additional payments for musical services, such as memorial services and weddings. Background and Experience Experience with live sound, audio/visual equipment, or live-streaming, preferably in a church, worship, music, theater, event, or similar setting. Experience operating a soundboard, setting up and testing microphones, managing live audio, and using Zoom or other live-streaming platforms is preferred. Ability to learn Wayside UCC's equipment and troubleshoot basic technical problems. Formal audio, sound, or audiovisual training is helpful but not required.
Desirable qualities:
dependable, punctual, attentive to detail, able to work independently, and able to communicate effectively with pastor, musicians, worship participants, and volunteers. Work Hours and Compensation Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications, at the rate of $23 to $25 per hour. The Sound Technician position pays for 3 hours per week, on Sunday mornings.
