The Technical Editor & Writer III will support a wide array of tasks associated with the development and maintenance of technical publications for a large defense program. Editing plans, technical reports, test procedures, statements of work, user manuals, operation manuals, requirement specifications, validation documents, and proposal volumes. Working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure clear and accurate technical documentation. Collaborating with Configuration Management and Quality Mission Assurance for document publication and delivery. Capturing meeting minutes and action items for technical exchange meetings (TEMs) and design reviews.Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience; OR a Master's degree with 3 years of related experience; OR a PhD with 1 year of related experience. Current DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program (SAP) clearance. Experience developing and maintaining program plans and process documents, and experience working with SMEs to improve and clarify technical documentation. Excellent technical writing and editing skills with a focus on accuracy and consistency of both technical information and documentation layout. Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and SharePoint plus Adobe Acrobat. Well-organized, detailed-oriented self-starter who enjoys challenges and works well in teams and independently. Exceptional organizational skills to include the ability to multitask; must be focused on program's documentation requirements and deadlines. Outstanding communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management, as well as the customer.Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of contractual requirements [SOWs and Data Item Descriptions (DIDs)] and Configuration Management processes. Understanding of program Security Classification Guides (SCGs) to determine document portion markings. Proposal experience, such as authoring Basis of Estimates (BOEs) and editing Technical Volumes.
