Job Summary The Technical Writer Intern is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation for various audiences, including internal teams, customers, and stakeholders. This role involves translating complex information into user-friendly documents and supporting the company's documentation system. Document Management:
Write, edit, review, and maintain technical documents such as user manuals, work instructions, installation guides, system specifications, and how-to articles. Develop clear and concise content that effectively communicates technical information to a non-technical audience. Submit documents for review and approval via designated workflows. Capture photos, and create diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to enhance understanding. Configuration Management & Change Control Assist the Document Control and Configuration Management Specialists to ensure controlled documents are created, reviewed, approved, and implemented in a timely manner. Create redlines and update documents to support change management documentation.
Quality Assurance:
Conduct thorough reviews and edits of documentation to ensure clarity, consistency, and accuracy. Validate documentation to ensure instructions are correct, complete and appropriate for the end-user. Solicit feedback from users and stakeholders to continuously improve documentation quality.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with engineering, manufacturing engineering, program management, and customer support teams to gather information and understand product and documentation requirements. Participate in product development meetings to stay updated on new features and changes. Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure the accuracy and completeness of technical content. Collect and analyze feedback from training sessions, audits, and other inputs to identify areas for document improvement. Position Requirements In the process of obtaining a BS degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or similar degree and discipline Experience with technical writing and creating or reviewing technical documentation. Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Familiarity with mechanical or electromechanical systems, assemblies, or manufacturing processes. Proficiency in documentation tools such as Microsoft Office, PDF editors, and other document control software. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. May participate in the identity verification process to access secure client or government portals by authorizing certified supplier or customer management platforms to obtain information from your personal credit profile or other information, solely to verify your identity. This position may be asked to drive for company purposes during the course of employment. If asked and agreed upon, employees must possess a valid California Driver's License and clean driving record.
