The Idaho Department of Insurance (DOI) is searching for a full-time Technical Records Specialist 2. This position reports to the Examiner Financial Analyst Supervisor in our Company Activities - Analysis section. This role will be responsible for utilizing critical thinking skills to review, analyze, and assess records for compliance with Idaho law. This role will also make recommendations for approval and/or denial of initial applications. The ideal candidate will need to be detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and will enjoy researching and validating data as much as interacting with customers. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Maintain various statements and records which include processing applications, reviewing financial statements, reviewing our website, and making recommendations to the supervisor Research, analyze, and problem solve through the interpretation and application of state laws and regulations Maintain accuracy of information on electronic databases Prepare reports which may include correspondence, trackers, spread sheets, reports and special projects Provide excellent customer service and frequent contact with internal and external customers
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Monitoring record systems to identify and correct errors Typically gained by at least one (1) year of full-time work experience where this duty was a primary responsibility of the job. Interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations, and complex policies for multiple or highly specialized programs Typically gained by at least one (1) year of full-time work experience reviewing documents or actions for compliance with laws, regulations, and/or rules; AND/OR through explaining to others how laws, regulations or rules apply to specific situations. General reception duties are not at the level required for this position. Analyzing information and researching a variety of sources to identify and resolve problems or issues Typically gained by at least one (1) year of experience performing extensive research and analysis of highly complex or technical material requiring in-depth program knowledge to determine if requirements were met and if they complied with established laws and/or regulations. Research would include contacting a variety of sources both inside and outside the organization to obtain and verify information in order to determine the appropriate course of action. Dealing with individuals from varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds in stressful situations Typically gained by at least one (1) year of full-time work experience de-escalating tense situations with various customers who could be agitated or upset. Personal or family-type situations are not at the skill level required for this position. Entering and retrieving data using a computerized record system Typically gained by at least one (1) year of full-time work experience where you were responsible for reviewing electronic record systems. Composing and proofreading business correspondence Typically gained by at least one (1) year of full-time work experience where this duty was a primary function of the job; OR successful completion of at least one (1) college- level course in English Composition, Business Communications, or related field PLUS at least six (6) months full-time work experience where this duty was a regular part of the job.
