SUMMARY:
The Technical Writer researches, writes, and edits technical and administrative publications, including manuals, reports, briefs, proposals, and instruction books, revising and standardizing material for consistency and compliance with applicable style guides, and collaborating with subject matter experts to gather technical information. This role requires three (3) years of experience writing and editing technical documents, with demonstrated experience revising or writing standardized material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment. This position requires a DoD Secret or higher security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance; U.S. Citizenship is required.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research, write, and edit technical and administrative publications, including manuals, reports, briefs, proposals, and instruction books.
- Revise and standardize material for consistency, clarity, and compliance with applicable style guides and standards.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and program staff to gather technical information.
- Review and edit documents prepared by others for accuracy, grammar, and formatting.
- Develop and maintain document templates and style guides.
- Ensure technical documentation complies with contract and customer requirements.
- Track document revisions and maintain version control.
- Prepare documentation related to work methods, procedures, and the installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSURE
- Three (3) years of experience writing and editing technical documents.
- Demonstrated experience revising or writing standardized material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment.
