The ideal candidate will have a strong background in translational, preclinical, or clinical research in hematologic malignancies. This individual will play a key role in the development and launch of a new blood cancer initiative. In this role, the candidate will contribute to the preparation of high-impact scientific documents—such as cancer progress reports, white papers, and scholarly articles—that highlight advances in blood cancer and communicate their significance to diverse audiences, including basic and clinical scientists, clinicians, policymakers, patient advocates, and the public.
Responsibilities:
Serve as a subject matter expert in blood cancer research to advance AACR's scientific agenda. Stay current with advances in hematological malignancies. Review, analyze, and synthesize scientific literature for the development of AACR progress reports and other scholarly publications. Prepare high-quality documents, including scientific commentaries, perspectives, and expert analyses, for dissemination to internal and external stakeholders. Participate in AACR scientific conferences, innovation summits, and workshops to gather insights and maintain awareness of emerging trends in cancer research. Ensure that all written content meets the highest standards of scientific accuracy and integrity. Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in biological sciences or related fields, with a focus on hematological malignancies. 3-5 years of experience after completion of PhD is required. A record of peer-reviewed publications in blood cancer is strongly preferred. Excellent scientific writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts for both professional and lay audiences. Ability to interpret, summarize, and present scientific information with clarity and accuracy. Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills, including experience working in collaborative, cross-functional teams. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under tight timelines. Experience in blood cancer therapeutics is highly preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to work with online collaboration platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, Zoom).
Desired Skill Set:
Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus. Proficiency in using reference management tools (e.g., EndNote, Mendeley).
