Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst / Technical Writer to support its Cybersecurity Program and Documentation Recovery initiative . This role will work closely with IT leadership, Business Analysts, and technical subject-matter experts to create, standardize, and maintain high-quality documentation for complex IT environments. The ideal candidate will have strong Technical Writing, Business Analysis, IT Documentation, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Visio, SOP, Runbook, Cybersecurity, and Process Documentation experience. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain professional technical documentation, SOPs, runbooks, operational procedures, and system documentation . Document cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, incident response, disaster recovery, business continuity, and recovery procedures . Work directly with IT SMEs across infrastructure, applications, service delivery, cybersecurity, and other technical disciplines. Conduct SME interviews and translate complex technical information into clear, accurate, and usable documentation. Create process maps, workflows, diagrams, and technical visuals using Microsoft Visio. Use Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Microsoft 365 extensively. Establish consistent documentation standards including terminology, formatting, version control, metadata, ownership, review dates, and change history. Collaborate with Business Analysts to convert discovery findings, requirements, inventories, and process maps into finalized documentation. Review documentation with SMEs, incorporate feedback, verify technical accuracy, and prepare materials for approval and publication. Develop reusable templates, style guides, naming conventions, repository structures, and documentation lifecycle practices . Support knowledge management and documentation standardization initiatives. Required Qualifications 5+ years of technical writing experience within complex IT or technology environments. Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field , or equivalent relevant professional experience. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 , especially Word and SharePoint , along with Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Visio for diagrams, workflows, and process maps. Proven experience creating SOPs, runbooks, system documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge articles . Strong editing, formatting, information architecture, document organization, and quality-control skills. Ability to collaborate directly with technical SMEs and effectively communicate complex technical concepts. Preferred Qualifications Experience documenting cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, incident response, disaster recovery, business continuity, or IT service management . Experience with documentation recovery, knowledge management, or large-scale documentation standardization . Experience administering SharePoint documentation libraries, templates, metadata, and document lifecycle practices . Knowledge of
ITIL, NIST, CIS
, or other recognized IT/security frameworks. Government or highly regulated environment experience.
CPTC, ITIL
Foundation , or comparable certification preferred. Candidate Requirements 100% onsite in Spartanburg, SC, with light travel to County offices and facilities. Candidate must be a South Carolina resident or willing to relocate/commute to South Carolina at their own expense. Candidates must provide 2-3 sanitized samples of previous technical documentation during the interview process, preferably including SOPs, runbooks, technical/process documentation, recovery documentation, or diagrams.
