Engineering
  • Process Documentation Position Summary Technical Process Writer develops and maintains clear, accurate, and detailed process documentation that supports consistent, safe, and efficient automotive manufacturing operations.
Technical Process Writer is responsible for creating and updating manufacturing work instructions, standard operating procedures, and process flows, and for collaborating with engineering and production stakeholders to ensure documentation reflects current methods, quality requirements, and regulatory standards in the automotive context. Essential Functions Create and update detailed process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures for automotive manufacturing lines
  • 30% Collaborate with process engineers, quality specialists, and production personnel to gather, verify, and clarify technical process information
  • 20% Map and document end-to-end manufacturing process flows, including inputs, outputs, and controls, to support consistency and efficiency
  • 15% Edit and standardize existing process documents to align with established templates, style guides, and regulatory or quality requirements
  • 10% Maintain document control practices, including versioning, approvals, and archival of process documentation
  • 10% Analyze production feedback and quality data to identify required updates or improvements to process documentation
  • 5% Support training activities by preparing process documentation and visual aids for use in operator and technician training
  • 5% Coordinate translation or localization of process documentation where required for diverse manufacturing sites
  • 5% Education Bachelor's degree in technical communication, engineering, or related field (Not required) Associate's degree in engineering technology or manufacturing technology Work Experience Experience creating process or technical documentation in a manufacturing environment 4-6 years: Experience supporting automotive or high-volume production operations with process documentation Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Process documentation Technical writing Manufacturing processes Automotive production systems Standard operating procedures (SOP) development Quality management systems (QMS) Document control Lean manufacturing concepts Process mapping Cross-functional collaboration Licenses and Certifications Professional certification in technical communication, process management, or quality management (preferred)
