Borsight is an aviation system engineering, integration, and manufacturing services provider. Our expertise includes mission functionality in defining user requirements by utilizing a disciplined system engineering approach. Borsight supports avionics and mission systems on the F-16, KC-135, C-130, C-17, RC-26, and many other weapons systems.
Borsight provides the following services:
Full Spectrum Logistics Systems Integration (Hardware, Software, & Operation Flight Program (OFP); Full Spectrum Flight Test Support; Configuration Control & Management; Aircraft System Level Integration & Modification; OFP Integration, Development, Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V); Software & Hardware Modification, Sustainment; Engineering and Technical Services. Borsight's Technical Writers must be able to prioritize responsibilities in a constantly shifting environment within Borsight's Engineering Department. They provide technical writing and editing for internal documents, engineering and technical specifications, USAF Technical Orders, user manuals, monthly reports, engineering studies, publishing, website, etc. Technical writers work closely with Borsight's Program Managers and Technical Program Managers in the development of Contract Deliverable Requirement List (CDRL) schedules, deliveries and verification in accordance with contract requirements and schedules. Borsight's Director of Engineering maintains all supervisory and administrative control of Technical Writers.
Qualifications:
Must have a broad-based technical writing, editing, and formatting skillset. Be knowledgeable of military specifications and familiar with various government documentation format requirements. Writers must be able to perform the essential responsibilities of this position description:
- Bachelor's Degree in Technical Writing, Technical Communication, or another relevant degree and/or
- Two years of experience editing and formatting USAF Technical Orders
- Must understand the concepts of grammar, style, and usage and how to apply them accordingly across multiple types of documentation
- Proficient using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint)
- Experience using Abode Acrobat Pro for finalizing documents
- Firm understanding of graphic design principles and Adobe CC (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom)
- Experience using SGML and concepts of using
FrameMaker Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide technical writing support for program documentation including engineering and technical specifications, information technology and cybersecurity, technical orders, software documentation, monthly reports, engineering studies, etc.
- Apply
TO 00-5-1, TO
System requirements and TO guidance, and use TO change related forms.
- Work on USAF Technical Orders, Job Guides, General Systems, Fault Isolation, Illustrated Parts Breakdowns, Commodity, and Support Equipment, and Flight Manuals.
- Perform revision and quality control along with content editing and creation for program documentation, AS9100 company document standards, and USAF Technical Orders.
- Support engineering and other departments by creating graphical figures, wiring diagrams, charts, forms, and other required illustrations.
- Provide support for US Government contract proposals where necessary.
- Assist Admin, IT, and HR with facility documentation.
- Explain scientific and technical ideas in a simple and easy to understand manner.
- Work with and support a variety of teams and program managers to help deliver and complete projects in a timely manner.
- Meet with customer representatives, vendors, engineers, and/or company executives to establish technical specifications.
- Create user documentation for a variety of material, including how-to guides and training/instruction manuals.

Physical Requirements:
The ability to sit or stand for extended periods while reviewing documentation or working on a computer, as well as the ability to perform prolonged computer-based tasks such as reading, typing, and digital document review. The position may involve occasional walking, bending, or reaching to access files or materials, and the ability to lift and carry light documents or supplies, typically up to 10-15 pounds. Adequate vision is necessary to read printed and digital technical documents, with or without corrective lenses, and the role requires participation in both in‑person and virtual meetings.
Conditions of Employment:
All Borsight employees serve in positions that have access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), classified information, or are involved in national security, health or safety, or functions other than the foregoing require a high degree of trust and confidence. To that point, all Borsight employees are subject to random facility perimeter control efforts to deter and detect the introduction or removal of classified information from Borsight's secured facility. This policy and conspicuous signage posted throughout Borsight's facility serve as legal notice to all employees entering or exiting Borsight's facility are subject to inspection. Borsight's Technical Writers serve in critical positions that requires a USG security clearance. All Borsight employees require a pre-employment drug screen and a background check and are also subject to random drug screening during the duration of their employment.
