Description:
The Proposal Writer, Sr will apply proven writing and communications skills to support the development of compelling narratives through drafting, messaging, and quality improvement across a range of proposal deliverables and special projects. They will apply strong writing and interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach, and a positive attitude under tight timelines to help capture teams translate and message complex ideas, leveraging a growing understanding of federal proposal development. As appropriate, they may apply their skills in strategic messaging for non-proposal deliverables (e.g., newsletters, presentations). The Proposal Writer, Sr will join the expanding Proposal Writing team in LM Space's Capture Excellence, collaborating with experienced proposal writers and cross-functional team members. Primary job responsibilities include:
Draft and contribute to assigned sections or volumes for RFPs, RFIs, and other solicitation responses. Support narrative development by synthesizing inputs from technical and capture teams into clear, customer-focused content. Collaborate with Proposal Managers and other team members to meet proposal milestones and provide seamless, high-quality proposal support. Take on progressively complex writing assignments with the support of senior writers, demonstrating a commitment to professional growth and a willingness to develop proposal craft through feedback, training, and hands-on experience. Support non-proposal strategic messaging requests as requested (e.g., newsletters, presentations).
Basic Qualifications:
3+ years of professional writing experience, with at least some exposure to and understanding of federal proposals and development. Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Strong written and oral communication skills with close attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Ability to quickly absorb complex technical and programmatic information and translate it into clear, accessible narratives adapted for different audiences. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college. US Citizen with current TS/SCI security clearance.
Desired Skills:
Experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry. Familiarity with/exposure to the federal proposal acquisition process, FAR/DFARS, or Lockheed Martin's capture and proposal development process. Direct experience supporting proposals preferred (e.g., as proposal manager, section author, etc.). Formal writing training or coursework. Experience using generative AI tools to accelerate content creation.

Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits. Schedule for this

Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $69,900 - $123,280. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $80,400 - $139,380. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
