Overview I'm looking for a creative, thoughtful Video Editor to become my go-to editing partner across the content I produce for YouTube and social media. This person will serve as the lead editor across a mix of long-form YouTube videos, Create & Flow episodes, vlogs, behind-the-scenes content, interviews, travel content, educational videos, medium-form content, and short-form social content. The primary focus initially will be long-form editing and storytelling. From there, you'll also help identify the strongest moments, ideas, and stories within that footage and turn them into compelling short-form content for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other platforms. I'm not simply looking for someone who can cut clips together. I'm looking for an editor who understands storytelling, pacing, personality, emotion, humor, music, visual texture, and how to find the story inside a large amount of footage. Some projects may be highly narrative and documentary-driven. Others may be lighter, faster, conversational, educational, or vlog-style. I want someone who can understand what each project needs while helping the overall body of work feel connected to a recognizable creative point of view. If you are also a videographer and can occasionally help capture content locally, that is a major bonus—but editing is the priority. Responsibilities Serve as the primary editor across YouTube and social video content. Edit long-form YouTube videos, Create & Flow episodes, vlogs, interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, travel content, educational content, and other recurring video formats. Shape raw footage into clear, engaging stories rather than simply following the chronological order in which it was filmed. Work closely with me to understand the intention, tone, emotional arc, and key message of each project. Identify strong moments within long-form footage that can become standalone medium-form and short-form content. Edit high-quality short-form videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other social platforms. Create short-form content that feels intentionally edited rather than simply clipped from a longer video. Adapt editing style based on the format, whether the project is documentary-style, educational, conversational, vlog-based, promotional, or social-first. Make thoughtful decisions around pacing, music, sound design, transitions, text, graphics, archival material, and B-roll. Perform basic color correction/color grading and audio cleanup to create polished final videos. Organize and manage raw footage, project files, music, graphics, and other media assets. Collaborate on revisions and incorporate creative feedback while also bringing your own editorial perspective and recommendations. Help establish and maintain a consistent visual and editorial language across YouTube and social content. Prepare final exports optimized for YouTube and social platforms. Help identify opportunities within existing footage for additional content, stories, and recurring formats. Qualifications Proven video editing experience with a strong portfolio or reel. Strong storytelling instincts and an ability to understand what makes a video worth watching. Experience editing long-form YouTube, documentary, lifestyle, creator, interview, vlog, or narrative-driven content. Ability to edit across different tones and formats rather than relying on one editing style. Strong instincts around pacing and knowing when to let a moment breathe versus when to move the story forward. Ability to work with direct-to-camera footage, interviews, B-roll, archival footage, screen recordings, photography, travel footage, and mixed media. Experience creating short-form content from longer videos—not simply extracting clips, but identifying moments that can become compelling standalone content. Strong understanding of YouTube and what helps maintain viewer attention without over-editing. Strong understanding of music, sound design, audio cleanup, and how audio contributes to storytelling. Working knowledge of color correction and grading. Strong file organization and media-management habits. Ability to receive feedback, collaborate, and iterate while maintaining attention to detail. Good communication and reliability around deadlines. Genuine interest in developing an ongoing creative partnership rather than approaching every video as an isolated edit. Editing Style The content will vary. Some projects, particularly Create & Flow, will lean more documentary, cinematic, reflective, and visual essay. Other videos may be vlogs, travel stories, behind-the-scenes moments, educational content, conversations, quick YouTube videos, or social-first pieces. I'm looking for an editor who can recognize what each piece needs rather than forcing every project into the same editing formula. The goal is engaging storytelling without unnecessary over-editing. I'm not looking for constant jump cuts, excessive sound effects, endless motion graphics, or editing that makes thoughtful content feel generic. There should still be room for personality, humor, energy, strong music choices, creative transitions, experimentation, and visually interesting edits when they serve the story. Software You should be highly proficient in a professional editing platform such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or a comparable professional editing tool. Experience with After Effects, Photoshop, CapCut, or other complementary tools is helpful but not required.
Bonus:
Videography This position is primarily for an editor, but candidates who also have experience behind the camera are especially encouraged to apply. Because I'm based in Macon, there may be opportunities to occasionally help capture YouTube videos, talking-head content, vlogs and lifestyle footage, behind-the-scenes footage, local events and workshops, interviews, travel or location-based content, creative shoots, and B-roll for future projects. Videography experience is a bonus, not a requirement. Ideal Fit You may be especially well suited for this role if you naturally watch footage and start thinking: "What is the strongest story here?" "What should we open with?" "What can we cut?" "Where should we stay longer?" "What makes this entertaining?" "What visual would make this moment stronger?" "What could become another YouTube video?" "What 30-90 seconds from this could stand on its own?" I want someone who thinks like an editor, storyteller, and creative partner—not just a technician. About the Content You'll work across a growing ecosystem of YouTube and social content. That includes Create & Flow, an original documentary-style series centered around creativity, work, change, identity, and life transitions, as well as vlogs, travel content, conversations, educational videos, behind-the-scenes content, shorter YouTube formats, and social-first pieces. There is already a significant archive of footage available alongside ongoing new production, which means there will be opportunities both to shape new projects and uncover stories from existing material. The goal is to build a strong, consistent YouTube presence with an editor who can grow alongside the content and help shape what we create next. How to Apply If this sounds like a strong fit, I'd love to see your work. Please apply through Indeed and include a link to your portfolio, reel, website, or relevant examples of your editing work. I'm especially interested in seeing work that demonstrates your storytelling instincts, creative point of view, and ability to keep an audience engaged across different video formats. Selected applicants will be invited to the next step in the process.
