Job Description

About the
Organization:
DancePhreakz is a dynamic, women-owned, and BIPOC-led dance and entertainment production company that is revolutionizing the industry. We bring creativity, energy, and authenticity to the world of dance and movement. Through our four divisions—Production, Apparel, Academy, and our newly acquired studio and event space—we aim to build a platform where BIPOC movement artists thrive, fostering a community that is unapologetically fierce, creative, and ready to make an impact. About Phrkz Network Phrkz Network is a new media and entertainment division of DancePhreakz launching in 2026. The Network is an evolution of DancePhreakz's production work into a dedicated home for original shows, podcasts, interviews, digital series, visual projects, documentaries, and culture-driven entertainment. As we build the Network, we're looking for emerging editors who want hands-on experience helping shape the look, pace, and storytelling style of an original digital entertainment platform. About the Internship We're seeking two Video Editor & Post-Production Interns to join our growing production team. This is an editing-first position for creatives who already have hands-on editing experience and want to strengthen their portfolio while working on real entertainment programming. You'll edit both long-form and short-form content , including full-length video podcasts, original shows, multi-camera productions, interviews, trailers, teasers, YouTube content, Reels, TikToks, and YouTube Shorts. We want editors who understand that great editing isn't simply cutting footage together. It's about finding the story, creating a hook, controlling pacing, capturing personality, and making viewers want to keep watching. Our creative inspiration comes from modern digital entertainment and culture-driven media platforms such as Hoorae Media, Keytv, Complex, The Black Effect, SpringHill, REVOLT, Joe Budden Podcast, and similar creator-led networks. We're looking for editors interested in understanding what makes their content feel current, entertaining, polished, and highly shareable. What You'll Do Long-Form & Podcast Editing Edit full-length video podcasts, interviews, original shows, and digital series for YouTube and other platforms. Edit multi-camera productions and seamlessly switch between angles based on conversation, reactions, and story. Sync and edit multiple camera and audio sources. Edit and prepare audio versions of podcast episodes for Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other podcast platforms. Perform color correction, dialogue cleanup, audio balancing, and basic sound design. Add intros/outros, lower thirds, graphics, captions, music, B-roll, and branded elements. Create engaging openings and maintain strong pacing throughout longer episodes. Short-Form & Promotional Editing Turn long-form episodes into compelling Reels, TikToks, and YouTube Shorts. Identify moments with strong hooks, reactions, humor, controversy, insight, or emotional impact. Create trailers, teasers, cold opens, episode promos, and highlight packages. Reframe and optimize content for vertical and horizontal formats. Understand that a 60-second social edit requires different pacing and storytelling than a 45-minute YouTube episode. Post-Production Workflow Organize raw footage, project files, audio, graphics, and final exports. Maintain organized editing projects that another editor can easily open and understand. Complete revisions based on producer/director notes. Export content according to platform specifications. Help maintain consistent editing and visual standards across Phrkz Network programming. Manage multiple assignments while meeting production deadlines. Qualifications Must reside in Los Angeles County, California. Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college/university program in film, media, communications, or a related field—or equivalent experience/portfolio. Previous video editing experience is required—this is not a learn-from-zero editing internship. Portfolio, demo reel, or work samples required. Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, AVID, or comparable professional editing software. Experience editing both short-form and/or long-form content. Strong understanding of storytelling, pacing, music, sound, reactions, and visual rhythm. Comfortable working with multi-camera footage. Basic knowledge of audio editing, color correction, captions, graphics, and exporting. Able to work independently and make creative decisions without requiring detailed instructions for every cut. Strong time management and ability to work within quick turnaround deadlines. Comfortable receiving notes, making revisions, and collaborating with producers and other editors. Interest in entertainment, pop culture, podcasts, music, dance, digital media, and original programming.
