Job Description

I am a professional violinist performing at weddings, private events, corporate events, and other special occasions throughout Southern California. I am looking for a videographer to join me on an ongoing basis and capture professional footage of my performances for social media and online content. Most event days are Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and each assignment will typically take around 5 to 8 hours total, including travel, setup, filming, and breakdown. Some longer-distance events may occasionally require additional time. This is ongoing, event-based work, but the schedule varies depending on bookings, so I may not have work available every weekend or on every one of those days. Flexibility on weekends is important. We will travel to events together in my vehicle, generally beginning from an agreed pickup point in the Glendale area. Some events are local, while others may involve longer travel throughout Southern California. Paid time begins when we depart together for the event and continues until we return to the agreed drop-off location. The starting rate is $25/hour, with the opportunity to increase to $30/hour based on performance, reliability, and the ability to handle the role independently. All camera equipment is provided, including a Sony a7S III, lens, DJI stabilizer, camera light, and filters. No editing is required, as I work with a separate video editor. You would not be serving as the event's primary videographer. Many events will already have their own photography and videography teams. Your focus will primarily be on me as the performing violinist, while also capturing venue details, natural guest reactions, interactions, and moments that help tell the story of the performance. It is important to be comfortable working respectfully alongside the main photo and video team and giving them appropriate space. We generally arrive around two hours before an event. During that time, I may have you capture a few short performance takes before guests arrive, usually around 10 to 15 minutes total, as well as venue and ceremony details. Once guests begin arriving, I would like you to stay attentive to natural moments such as guest reactions, conversations, people enjoying the music, and interactions with the violin performance. I would also like to capture a small amount of photography at each event, so some understanding of both videography and photography is important. The position is primarily video-focused, but you should also be comfortable composing and taking clean, professional photographs when needed. Applicants should already be comfortable operating a professional mirrorless camera and a motorized stabilizer or gimbal. You should understand and be able to adjust settings such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance, focus, and exposure in changing indoor and outdoor lighting conditions. The position also includes helping with a simple sound system setup at the beginning and end of the event. When we first arrive, I will usually need to change into my performance attire and prepare for the event, so I would ask you to handle the initial speaker setup in the ceremony area and, when needed, the cocktail hour area. The setup is very simple for a solo violin performance and typically takes around 10 to 15 minutes.

After the event, the role also includes helping pack up the speakers and camera equipment. I will generally assist with breakdown once I have finished my performance responsibilities and am available. Event attire is simple and professional: black pants, black shirt, and black shoes. If available, please include a link to a videography or photography portfolio, reel, or examples of your previous work. I am looking for someone dependable, friendly, observant, comfortable around guests, and interested in building a consistent long-term working relationship.
