We're looking for someone with natural sales ability, a strong personality, and the ability to keep people entertained. The job is simple to describe and hard to do well: Go live. Talk. Entertain. Interact with the chat. Sell. And keep the energy up for hours at a time. If you're the kind of person who can walk into a room full of strangers and have half of them laughing or buying something 20 minutes later, we want to hear from you. What You'll Actually Do You'll host live shopping shows on Whatnot from our Woodstock location. Before each show, you'll help pull products, stage the table, and familiarize yourself with what you're selling. Once the camera turns on, you'll need to: Keep the conversation moving Demonstrate and sell products Read and respond to live chat Answer questions on the fly Handle products while talking Keep viewers entertained and engaged Transition from one product to the next without killing the momentum When the stream ends, you'll help break everything down, sort sold merchandise, and put products back where they belong. Who We're Looking For This role is built for someone who is naturally outgoing, persuasive, quick on their feet, and comfortable being the center of attention. Sales experience is a big plus, especially if you've sold face-to-face. That experience could come from retail, restaurants or bars, dealerships, trade shows, events, beauty, fashion, fitness, hospitality, content creation, livestreaming, or anywhere else where your personality and ability to connect with people directly affected the outcome. You do not need an existing social media following. You do need to be comfortable on camera. More importantly, you need to be comfortable being yourself on camera. You'll also have to multitask. At any given moment, you may be reading chat, answering a question, handling a product, explaining its features, watching an auction, and figuring out what you're selling next. We can teach you the products. We can teach you the platform. What's much harder to teach is personality, sales instinct, work ethic, and the ability to make people want to keep watching. This Can Be More Than Just a Part-Time Job There is a significant earning opportunity for the right person. We aren't looking for someone who simply wants to clock in, host a show, and go home. We're interested in finding someone who sees the opportunity in building an audience, improving their sales ability, learning what works, and getting better every week. The better you become at attracting viewers, keeping them entertained, and converting those viewers into customers, the more money you can make. Someone who really puts time and effort into becoming great at live selling can turn this into a very lucrative part-time role. There is no reason the right personality couldn't eventually become one of the faces people associate with Going Gear. Do You Need to Know Knives and Flashlights? No. Going Gear specializes in knives, flashlights, EDC gear, and related products, but you do not need to be a knife or flashlight enthusiast to apply. Hours Part-time and flexible. We can work around your schedule to a real degree. Shows may take place during the day, evenings, or weekends depending on availability and what performs best. There is also an opportunity to host more shows and earn more as you prove yourself and build an audience. Pay $20-$75+ per hour Compensation is a combination of a base hourly wage plus commission based on what you sell. An average-performing host should land around $30/hour all-in. A strong host can make considerably more. And someone who becomes genuinely great at this — builds an audience, develops repeat customers, puts in the effort, and consistently sells — has the opportunity to make $75-$100+ per hour during strong shows. The upside is directly connected to your performance.
