Job Description

Spencer Municipal Utilities (SMU) is a successful municipally owned utility provider currently seeking a Part Time Video Services Associate. We are seeking a team player with experience serving in a customer-focused operation. SMU has proudly met the electric and water needs of local Spencer, Iowa residents since 1942. Telecommunication service offerings were added for the community in 1997. The ideal candidate would be a self-motivated, detailed oriented individual responsible for assisting the SMU local programming department with video production. We are looking for a camera operator who can capture high-quality video footage of various community events, such as city council meetings, concerts, and sports. You will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining the camera equipment, as well as working with other department production team members to ensure the best possible coverage of the event. This position works indoors and outdoors and is subject to all types of weather conditions. Ability to work irregular hours, which may vary due to functions and will include many evenings, and some Saturdays.
Responsibilities:
Prepare, transport, and set up the camera equipment before each event Operate the camera during the event, following the guidelines and instructions for the event. Adjust the camera settings, focus, zoom, and angles to capture the best shots Monitor the audio and video quality and report any issues or malfunctions Collaborate with the production team members to ensure a smooth workflow Transport the camera equipment and accessories after each event back to the office Assist with getting final video footage prepped for editing
Our Requirements:
Must be 16 years of age Video production experience including the use of video cameras is helpful To perform this job successfully a qualified individual should have some knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) desktop publishing and video editing software or the ability to learn Required to possess and maintain a valid Iowa driver's license and meet SMU insurability requirements To apply candidates must complete an SMU application.
