Freelance Legal Videographer
  • NJ, NY, PA
    (Weekdays Only) Contract Position | $30
  • 40+ /hr | Tolls & Parking Reimbursed ApertureAlley is seeking experienced, detail-oriented freelance videographers to film legal depositions across New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania and Remotely .
This is a 1099 contract opportunity for dependable professionals who take pride in capturing accurate and high-quality legal video. We're looking for individuals who can offer strong weekday availability (Monday-Friday) . Weekend work is extremely rare. While we prioritize assignments closest to your location, you must be open to jobs up to 60 to 90 minutes away . Consistent communication is key—we work around your schedule, and you'll be asked to confirm your availability a week in advance. What to
Expect:
Flexible scheduling
  • you choose your availability 10-30 hours/week average; some contractors see 40+ hours depending on demand and availability Deposition lengths vary from 2 to 8+ hours Most work occurs during business hours but not all.
Responsibilities:
Accurately and reliably record legal depositions in accordance with client and legal standards Upload all media to ApertureAlley Maintain and transport your own video gear to and from assignments Communicate clearly and professionally via email, text, and Slack Submit daily invoices with accurate records of time and mileage Escalate issues promptly to ensure client satisfaction Maintain a media backup of 12 to 18 months
Required In Person Equipment:
Professional camcorder with XLR input and date/time stamp (720P or higher) we do NOT need 4K. Many videographers use 10 year old camcorders that are around $500 used on Ebay. No Blackmagic camera, Canon Rebel, etc Sturdy tripod 4-channel audio mixer and 4-5 XLR lavalier mics (no wireless) XLR cables Gray Blue, White, or black backdrop ideal Primary and Secondary laptop (iPads typically not sufficient) Headphones HDMI Capture Card Reliable transportation (personal vehicle)
Required Remote Equipment:
  • 2 Laptops OR 2 Desktops
  • External Monitor
  • Quiet space to work
  • Fast Internet Qualifications:
    Legal Videography Experience Trial Presentation Experience Camcorder + Audio Recorder + Lavs + 2 Laptops Must be able to lift 50 lbs Strong understanding of video production workflow Excellent communication and customer service skills through phone, text, email and Slack. Proficiency with computers. Must know the following software
  • OBS & Zoom, PDF editors such as adobe acrobat, Microsoft word.
Compensation:
Onsite Coverage $150 Appearance fee + $35
  • $40 an hour after the first 2 hours from start time.
Remote Coverage $30/hr (2-hour minimum per job) Tolls and parking reimbursed NET 90 payment terms , though we often pay earlier (NET 30-60 depending on client) Please note: this is a freelance contractor role. You must own your gear and manage your own taxes. This should not be your sole source of income. you must be a true contract with other clients.
