We specialize in streamlining import, export, and freight-forwarding operations for businesses worldwide. Position Summary Imperial Freight Brokers is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Import Coordinator/Entry Writer to support the processing and clearance of inbound shipments. This position is responsible for reviewing import documentation, preparing and transmitting customs entries, coordinating government-agency releases, arranging cargo delivery, and maintaining accurate compliance records. The ideal candidate is highly organized, communicates effectively, and can manage multiple shipments and deadlines while delivering a high level of service to customers. Key Responsibilities Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, arrival notices, and other import documentation for completeness and accuracy. Process import documentation through the company's Automated Broker Interface (ABI) system. Prepare and transmit accurate customs entries in accordance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection regulations and company procedures. Obtain CBP release and applicable Partner Government Agency releases. Prepare and submit Importer Security Filings within required timeframes, including the 24-hour vessel-loading requirement. Monitor pending ISF submissions and follow up with clients and vendors to obtain missing or corrected information. Review and monitor CBP rejections, requests for information, government-agency correspondence, and other shipment-related notices. Respond to entry or documentation issues and escalate compliance concerns to management or a Licensed Customs Broker when appropriate. Coordinate incoming shipments with ocean carriers, air carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, warehouses, and transportation providers. Track and trace inbound air and ocean shipments and maintain accurate shipment information within internal systems. Monitor cargo availability, customs status, examinations, holds, storage deadlines, and delivery requirements. Arrange the release and delivery of imported cargo following customs clearance. Prepare billing for each file to sent Accounting for invoicing. Maintain regular communication with clients, provide shipment updates, and help resolve documentation, clearance, or compliance issues. Perform audit reviews of assigned customs brokerage files to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Maintain complete and current customs-compliance records, including entry documents, ISF filings, correspondence, and supporting documentation. Assist with internal compliance reviews and external CBP or government-agency audits. Remain informed of changes to CBP regulations, ISF requirements, import procedures, and other applicable domestic and international shipping regulations. Collaborate with other departments to provide customers with a consistent and high level of service. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, international business, or a related field preferred but not required. Experience One to two years of experience in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, logistics, or an import-clearance environment is preferred. Previous industry experience is not required for candidates with a strong educational background in logistics, supply chain management, international business, or a related field. Customs entry-writing or import-clearance experience is strongly preferred. Experience with ABI software is preferred. Experience using the Descartes QuestaWeb platform is a plus. Skills and Competencies Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Effective written and verbal communication abilities. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and follow-up skills. Ability to review detailed customs and shipping documentation. Ability to manage multiple shipments, responsibilities, and deadlines simultaneously. Ability to prioritize effectively and perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Working knowledge of customs regulations, import procedures, and logistics terminology is an advantage. Ability to communicate professionally with clients, vendors, carriers, and government agencies.
