Job Description

Part-Time ReporterThe Linn News The Linn News is looking for a part-time reporter to help us tell the stories that matter to our local communities. This position will focus on producing original local news for both our weekly newspaper and digital platforms. Coverage will include local government, schools, businesses, community events, human-interest features and the people and organizations making a difference throughout the area. What You'll Do Write local news and feature stories for print and digital publication Cover city councils, school boards and other local government Report on local schools, businesses and community organizations Find and develop interesting human-interest and community stories Interview local residents, business owners, community leaders and other sources Take photos to accompany stories when needed Help identify important stories and issues our readers should know about Contribute to our growing digital news coverage Who We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is curious, dependable and genuinely interested in the communities we serve. Previous journalism, writing or communications experience is a plus, but it is not required. We are willing to work with and train the right person. Strong candidates will be comfortable talking with people, asking questions, writing clearly and meeting deadlines. Most importantly, we want someone who enjoys being involved in the community and finding stories worth telling. This is a part-time position with flexibility and an opportunity to become an important part of The Linn News and our local coverage. Interested?
