Job Description

Assistant Writer Legacy Literature Boston, MA Job Details Part-time Up to $35,000 a year 16 hours ago Qualifications Editorial content writing Teamwork Content writing Attention to detail Fact checking Full Job Description Company / Job Summary Legacy Literature is a premier biography writing service dedicated to extraordinary individuals who want to preserve their history, experiences, and legacy for future generations. We tell the stories behind the success—the struggles, triumphs, pivotal moments, relationships, and invaluable lessons that shaped a life. Our books are designed to become lasting family keepsakes: stories that allow future generations to understand not only what someone accomplished, but who they were and what they learned along the way. As biographers, we believe every person has a story worth telling and that there is an extraordinary amount of wisdom to be found in a lifetime of experience. Our job is to capture those stories with depth, authenticity, and humanity. We approach biography as narrative storytelling. Rather than simply documenting facts, we strive to transport the reader into another time and place—to walk alongside an individual, see what they saw, hear the conversations they had, and understand the experiences that shaped them. We are looking for an Assistant Biographer / Writer who is passionate about writing, storytelling, and preserving the stories of others. Responsibilities Work directly with clients to uncover and document their life stories. Conduct interviews, research, and fact-checking. Transform interviews and source material into compelling narrative prose. Collaborate with editors and clients throughout the writing process. Help create a polished, meaningful book that accurately reflects each client's story and voice. Experience Professional Writing Experience — Demonstrated track record as a writer; published work or a writing portfolio preferred, particularly in narrative form. Interview Experience — Ability to effectively prompt interviewees, take thorough notes, maintain a natural conversational flow, and ask thoughtful follow-up questions. Research & Fact-Checking — Ability to gather accurate, corroborated information from credible sources and thoroughly fact-check material. Availability & Punctuality — Reliable availability and ability to attend all scheduled client meetings on time and prepared. Ability to Meet Deadlines — Maintain a consistent week-to-week workflow and submit writing installments to the editor in a timely manner. Collaboration — Ability to receive feedback, apply edits and revisions, and thoughtfully incorporate appropriate client requests. Enthusiasm for the Subject Matter — Treat every client's story with equal importance, care, attention to detail, and commitment to quality throughout the process. Passion for the Written Word — Genuine love of reading and writing, desire to continually improve your craft, willingness to push yourself creatively, and enthusiasm for the drafting process. Join us as an Assistant Writer and bring your passion for storytelling to life! This role offers a vibrant environment where your writing skills will flourish through meaningful work that informs, inspires, and engages audiences worldwide.
