Job Summary Bloomsburie LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Writer / Strategic Communications professional to support a Department of Defense (DoD) strategic communications program in Falls Church, Virginia. The Senior Writer will develop high-quality strategic communications products for senior military leaders, stakeholders, Soldiers, Families, and other audiences. The position requires an experienced communications professional who can translate complex information into clear, accurate, and compelling content across multiple communication platforms. This is a full-time, on-site position. Remote or hybrid work is not available. Key Responsibilities Develop strategic messaging, talking points, speeches, executive communications, briefing materials, feature stories, articles, public information products, and other written communications. Draft and support strategic communications strategies, communication plans, outreach campaigns, and stakeholder messaging. Develop content for senior military leaders and other high-level Government stakeholders. Research complex topics and translate technical, policy, and program information into clear communications for diverse audiences. Develop content for websites, social media, presentations, briefings, and other digital and traditional communication channels. Support communications associated with leadership engagements, high-visibility events, organizational initiatives, and stakeholder outreach. Conduct interviews and gather information from subject matter experts, leadership, program personnel, and other stakeholders. Review and edit communications products for accuracy, clarity, consistency, grammar, tone, and adherence to applicable Government and Army standards. Apply Associated Press (AP) Style and applicable Army public affairs and communications standards, including
AR 360-1.
Support communications assessments, metrics, and reporting to evaluate communication effectiveness. Coordinate closely with the Photographer/Videographer, Multimedia Designer, Government personnel, and other team members to ensure consistent messaging across communications products. Incorporate Government comments and revisions while meeting established deadlines and quality standards. Support recurring status reporting and tracking of communications activities and deliverables. Perform other related assignments as required in support of the contract. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, English, or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in strategic communications, public affairs, journalism, executive communications, or a related field. Demonstrated experience developing senior-leader communications, including speeches, talking points, briefings, articles, and strategic messaging. Strong writing, editing, research, and interviewing skills. Experience developing strategic communications plans, messaging strategies, outreach materials, and stakeholder communications. Knowledge of AP Style and professional editorial standards. Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work effectively with senior leaders, Government personnel, subject matter experts, and multidisciplinary communications teams. Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to produce polished, publication-ready communications products. Preferred Qualifications Previous Army, Department of Defense, or federal government communications experience. Knowledge of Army Regulation (AR) 360-1, The Army Public Affairs Program . Familiarity with Army Medicine, military health, Soldier recovery programs, or related Army organizations. Experience preparing communications for senior military or civilian leadership. Familiarity with Army.mil, Stars and Stripes, and other military communications platforms. Experience with communications analytics, performance measurement, and assessment.
Security / Suitability
Requirements Candidate must possess a current active Public Trust acceptable for Government recognition and must maintain the required access and suitability throughout employment. Employment is subject to applicable Government security, suitability, and access requirements. Additional Requirements Must be available to work on-site five days per week in Falls Church, Virginia. Regular and punctual attendance is an essential requirement of the position. Must be available for travel as required by the contract, which may occasionally include extended travel of up to approximately four weeks. Pay:
$90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
