The Procedure Writer develops, revises, and maintains high‑quality technical procedures that support safe, accurate, and compliant execution of activities across dimensional inspection, material testing, metrology, procurement, radiography, and weld inspection. This role ensures procedures meet all regulatory, administrative, and technical requirements. Key Responsibilities Develop new, revised, or modified technical procedures that support safe and correct execution of technical tasks, including: dimensional inspection, material testing, metrology, procurement, radiography, and weld inspection. Comply with Y15‑232, Technical Procedure Process , and utilize the Technical Procedure Authoring Tool (TPAT) for all technical procedure development. Develop and revise administrative procedures in accordance with Y15‑235, Administrative Management Requirements Process , using the Administrative Procedure Authoring Tool (APAT) . Write and maintain enterprise‑level procedures applicable. Analyze DOE Orders, DOE Standards, 60‑101PD Quality Assurance Program Description , Y60‑015 Integrated Quality Manual , Nuclear Criticality Safety documentation, and Hazard Analysis documentation to determine applicable technical requirements. Prepare, coordinate, and facilitate procedure reviews; manage comment resolution and ensure regulatory and internal compliance. Implement hazard controls and incorporate quality and performance data into procedure content. Conduct verification and validation to ensure procedures can be performed exactly as written. Ensure all procedures adhere to applicable regulatory, administrative, and quality assurance requirements. Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in a technical discipline and 10+ years of experience in technical fields, including experience writing technical procedures in a commercial nuclear or Weapons Complex environment.
In lieu of a degree:
18+ years of technical background with extensive experience writing technical procedures in a commercial nuclear or Weapons Complex setting. Strong familiarity with federal, regulatory, and administrative requirements impacting technical and administrative procedures. Proven experience analyzing and applying DOE directives, quality assurance programs, NCS documents, and hazard analyses.
