Resume Cover Letter List of three references Portfolio containing strong writing samples Position Summary The Sr. Editorial Specialist is a key member of UTEP's marketing editorial team, responsible for crafting compelling, authentic content that tells the stories of UTEP. This role focuses on producing high-quality written materials across multiple channels to support undergraduate student recruitment and broader university marketing goals. The position emphasizes storytelling that is genuine, engaging, and persuasive. The Sr. Editorial Specialist reports to the Assistant Director of Editorial Services. Write and edit a wide range of marketing materials, including recruitment emails and nurture campaigns, website content, landing pages, viewbooks, brochures, blog posts/articles, social media captions, video scripts, paid advertising copy and other collateral. Lead the development of content for major recruitment campaigns and initiatives from concept to final copy. Conduct interviews with students, alumni, and faculty to gather authentic stories and translate them into compelling marketing narratives. Mentor junior writers and provide constructive feedback to elevate the overall quality of the team's written output. Collaborate with other members of the Marketing and Communications team to ensure content aligns with visual design, strategy and campaign objectives. Help shape the editorial calendar and contribute to content strategy planning. Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of UTEP's marketing brand voice and style guide. Ensure all content maintains an authentic, storytelling-focused tone that resonates with prospective students and families. Ensuring that all content is consistent with UTEP's policies and guidebook. Contribute to University Publications, including our research and alumni magazine. Provide editorial support to UTEP Press. Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems. Complies with all State and University policies. Other duties may be assigned.
Performance Metrics:
Quality and impact of written content as evaluated by leadership and stakeholder feedback. Timeliness and successful delivery of content for campaigns and deadlines. Effectiveness of mentoring and contributions to team writing standards. Ability to produce authentic, engaging stories that support recruitment goals.
Not Acceptable:
Content that requires excessive revisions due to poor quality, misses deadlines repeatedly, or deviates significantly from brand voice. Exceptional writing and editing skills with a proven ability to craft authentic, story-driven content. Strong storytelling ability — capable of turning interviews and information into emotionally resonant narratives. Versatility in writing for multiple formats and channels (long-form, short-form, persuasive, conversational). Excellent interpersonal skills for interviewing and collaborating with diverse stakeholders. Ability to mentor and provide constructive feedback. Strong attention to detail and commitment to editorial excellence. Understanding of recruitment marketing principles and higher education audiences.

Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related field required. and
Experience:
5+ years of professional experience in marketing writing, content creation, or editorial roles. Agency or fast-paced in-house marketing team experience highly valued. Commitment to UTEP's mission and values.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in higher education or enrollment/recruitment marketing strongly preferred. Spanish language writing proficiency preferred.
