Job Description
The Development & Communications Manager leads fundraising and donor engagement efforts to support the organization's mission. This role is responsible for executing annual fundraising strategies, strengthening donor relationships, managing signature events, and driving contributed revenue. The position spearheads donor-focused communications, including fundraising appeals, newsletters, and stewardship messaging, and supports outreach and marketing efforts across the organization. This role also manages key communication channels, including digital platforms, to enhance visibility and engagement. Reporting to the Executive Director, this is a hands-on role that balances strategy and execution in a collaborative, small nonprofit environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Fundraising & Campaign Management Plan and execute annual fundraising campaigns, including individual giving, appeals, sponsorships, and recurring giving programs Manage the donor pipeline, including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of individual and corporate donors Support development of fundraising goals, strategies, and revenue tracking in collaboration with the Executive Director Identify and implement new revenue opportunities aligned with organizational priorities Donor Relations & Stewardship Build and maintain strong relationships with donors through consistent communication and engagement Lead donor stewardship activities, including acknowledgments, recognition, and appreciation initiatives Develop and implement donor retention and upgrade strategies Partner with the Executive Director on major donor engagement and key relationships Events & Community Engagement Lead planning and execution of the organization's signature fundraising event (Hope Against Hunger breakfast) Support additional donor and community engagement events, including donor appreciation gatherings and open houses Manage event promotion, sponsorships, logistics, and post-event follow-up Represent the organization at community events and outreach opportunities to increase visibility and support Operations, Data & Collaboration Maintain accurate donor records and segmentation within the CRM (Neon) to support fundraising and outreach efforts Track and report on fundraising performance, donor trends, and campaign outcomes Use data and analytics (CRM, email, and social platforms) to inform strategy and improve results Collaborate with staff across departments to support organizational priorities and ensure alignment in messaging Skills & Qualifications The successful candidate will demonstrate the skills to support our complex and powerful programs and a genuine passion for the mission. Relevant degrees and experience matter, but we also deeply value enthusiasm, organization, and a drive to learn. 3+ years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, marketing, or a related field Demonstrated experience supporting or leading fundraising campaigns and donor engagement efforts Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences Experience with CRM systems (Bloomerang or similar) and data-informed decision-making Experience managing digital communications, including email platforms, social media, and website content Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently Proficiency with tools such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Canva (or similar design tools), and website platforms (WordPress, Wix, or similar) Ability to prioritize effectively and focus on high-impact activities in a resource-constrained environment Collaborative, proactive, and adaptable approach to work in a small nonprofit setting Passion for community-based work and addressing food insecurity Working Conditions This position primarily involves working in a standard office environment, requiring prolonged sitting at a desk with frequent computer use, occasional standing or walking to access files or interact with colleagues, and minimal physical exertion; the workspace is typically well-lit, climate-controlled, and with moderate noise levels. High level of verbal and written communication. Primary schedule for this position is Monday thru Friday. Occasional evening or weekend hours required for events. Access to a vehicle in working condition is required, with valid driver's license and insurance. Offer is conditional on passage of a pre-employment background check. Stanwood-Camano Food Bank Services Overview Stanwood-Camano Food Bank Services (SCFBS), established in 1984, works to alleviate hunger and meet the basic needs of individuals and families in our community. With support from generous donors, SCFBS serves over 1,500 community members each week through food distribution and essential resources. Programs include senior food distribution, a weekend food program for local students, Warm Coats for Kids, and Holiday House. SCFBS also operates the Stanwood-Camano Thrift Store, whose proceeds directly support the organization's operations.
