Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact on students' lives by providing specialized instruction as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. In this contract opportunity, you'll work closely with students and school staff to create inclusive and accessible learning environments that support communication, academic growth, and social development for children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain) Experience teaching in educational settings serving students with hearing differences Strong command of American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities Ability to develop and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to unique student needs Collaborative, flexible approach to working with multidisciplinary teams, families, and community resources
Essential Responsibilities:
Deliver instruction to students with hearing loss across various grade levels, modifying curriculum as needed Assess student progress and document outcomes in consultation with IEP teams Advocate for accessible learning resources and technology in the classroom Provide support and training to school staff and families regarding effective communication strategies Foster a welcoming, encouraging classroom environment that prioritizes inclusion Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices
