Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) for a 6th-grader this academic year. This contract opportunity calls for a dedicated professional to provide specialized services part-time, engaging in one-on-one instruction and collaboration with school staff. The assignment offers valuable experience in a school environment and the chance to personalize support for a student's diverse learning needs. With sessions scheduled twice a month, you'll play a key role in ensuring educational accessibility and IEP compliance.
Responsibilities include:
Delivering direct specialized instruction and support to a 6th-grade student, following IEP guidelines and student-specific requirements Conducting two individual 30-minute sessions per month Collaborating with classroom teachers and staff to implement accommodations and support accessibility Consulting on assistive technology, classroom accommodations, and accessibility strategies Monitoring student progress and communicating vision-related needs to the educational team Ensuring all instructional materials and classroom activities are accessible Providing guidance to maintain IEP service and accommodation compliance
Qualifications:
Valid Georgia PSC certification with Vision Impairment/TVI endorsement Experience supporting students with visual impairments in school settings preferred Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with educators, staff, and support teams Ability to develop, implement, and monitor individualized strategies for students with specialized needs This flexible, part-time contract position starts as soon as possible and extends through late May 2026.
