Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by providing specialized support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing within a local school district. This contract position offers the opportunity to work closely with a small group of students, ensuring they receive the tailored instruction and advocacy they need to thrive in their educational environment.
Key Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or related credential Experience in instructional strategies and assistive technology for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant communication methods Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with students, staff, and families Ability to develop and implement IEPs focused on auditory, language, and academic goals
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction and support to a small caseload of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, adapting lessons to individual needs Collaborate with classroom teachers, aides, and related service providers to modify curriculum and foster accessible learning environments Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed Advocate for appropriate accommodations and access to school resources for each student Consult with families, offering guidance on communication strategies and educational planning Maintain complete and accurate records as required by district and state guidelines
