Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a real impact by providing vital support as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting. This contract opportunity involves working 1:1 with a student, helping to bridge communication with staff and peers to ensure meaningful participation in the classroom and school activities.
Key Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in educational environments Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with a strong command of interpreting techniques Compassion, patience, and effective interpersonal skills for working with students, staff, and families Certification or licensure as required by state standards Ability to adapt interpretation styles to meet the needs of individual students
Core Responsibilities:
Provide dedicated 1:1 interpreting services to a student within the district, ensuring accurate and clear communication during lessons and school activities Collaborate with teachers, aides, and special education staff to support the student's learning goals Maintain confidentiality regarding all student matters and adhere to ethical standards of interpretation Prepare for classroom content as needed to facilitate understanding and engagement Support positive social interactions and encourage independent communication skills
