; BLS Certificion is maintained on a bi-annual basis and is in compliance all times. b. Accurely operes a wide variety of imaging equipment to obtain examinions of acceptable quality. This includes but is not limited to: Fluoroscopic and General Diagnostic exams, Portable Radiography, Portable Fluoroscopy, Opering Room and all other duties assigned. c. Technologist works under the supervision of the Section Supervisor and Lead Technologist and rotes all responsibilities within the General Radiology section. Incumbent will also support the other modalities by providing limited coverage as needed. He/she works independently on most exams, but confers with Radiologists and Section Supervisor and/or Lead Technologist on more difficult examinions. Work is spot-checked for achievement of objectives. d. Knowledge of anomy and physiology including locion, appearance, and functioning of the major and minor systems susceptible to radiographic illuminion and knowledge of changes to systems and organs caused by common medical and surgical diseases. e. Prepares contrast merials under the direction of the radiologist for the purpose of performing exams requiring injectable or consumable solutions such as UGl's, BE's, Small Bowel, , Modified Barium Swallows, Venograms, Cystograms, Cholangiograms, Fistulagrams, Arthrography, etc. Improper use or administrion of the contrast merials run the risk of pient modality. e. Records all doses of radiion for fluoroscopy and portable fluoroscopy exams in the technologist comment section in Vista and /or by genering and sending the dose summary report from the fluoroscopy equipment. f. Technologist is competent and educed in all service policies pertaining to the technologist and their assigned work section. Maintains knowledge of all department and General Radiology section policies, aknowledging the receipt and understanding of these policies by signing the supervisory copy of the policy. g. Pay:

Basic Requirements :

Must be proficient in both written and spoken English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402 (d), and 7407 (d).
Educion:
Completion of a full-time training course of least 24 months in durion (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certifice or an associe degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educion in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Educion (DOE).
Certificion:
Must be certified in Advanced Radiology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology ARRT (R). May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfhering Provision as described in the VA Qualificion Standard for this occupion (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupion and meet the criteria).
Grade Determinions:
In addition to the basic requirements, the following criteria must be used when determining the approprie grade assignment of candides. GS-8:
Experience:
Completion of least 1 year of qualifying experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level (for a total of 3 years of DRT experience). Qualifying experience would include independently performing a substantially full range of duties but receive occasional oversight or direction for highly complex issues and providing services in specialized areas of radiologic technology and/or general radiologic technology services. In addition to the experience above, the candide must demonstre all of the following KSAs. Ability to check system for operion and assess acceptable performance based on established guidelines. Knowledge of calibrion parameters and the ability to make adjustments as needed. Knowledge of pient's clinical record, diagnosis, and laborory results. Ability to monitor pient's physiologic changes during the procedure and keep the radiologist informed. Skill in using tact, diplomacy, and courtesy in dealings with the customer base, pients, staff, family, ors, and volunteers. Knowledge of anomy and physiology, and cross-sectional anomy, recognizing unusual images, and determining proper positioning to best demonstre areas of interest.
