Full-time Objective & Overview:
Looking for a smart, detail oriented and patient-centered dialysis nurse RN to serve our patients consistent with our mission to deliver patient wellbeing through accessible, effective and delightful care. We are looking for a person that can work well with others across the entire healthcare operation, including nurses, technicians, doctors, dietitians, social workers and all support functions.

Key Job Responsibilities Patient Assessment and Preparation:
Conduct thorough assessments of patients before each dialysis session, including reviewing medical history, assessing vital signs, and evaluating vascular access sites.
Hemodialysis Machine Setup and Monitoring:
Set up hemodialysis machines, ensuring proper functioning, and monitoring treatment parameters throughout the dialysis session, including blood flow rates, dialysate composition, and ultrafiltration rates.
Vascular Access Care:
Assess and monitor vascular access sites, including arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) or grafts (AVGs), and performing cannulation as needed. Providing education and support to patients for maintaining vascular access integrity.
Medication Administration:
Administer medications and intravenous fluids as prescribed by the nephrologist, including anticoagulants (e.g., heparin), erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs), and iron supplements.
Patient Monitoring and Intervention:
Monitor patients' condition during dialysis treatment, assessing for signs of complications or adverse reactions, and intervening promptly to address any issues, such as hypotension, cramping, or bleeding.
Patient Education and Support:
Provide education to patients and their families regarding dialysis treatment, dietary restrictions, fluid management, medication adherence, and self-care techniques. Offering emotional support and counseling as needed.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient assessments, treatment parameters, medication administration, and other relevant information in electronic health records (EHR) or paper charts. Documentation should accurately reflect the patient status and nursing interventions and be written to ensure continuity of care.
Infection Control Practices:
Adhere to strict infection control protocols, including proper hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining a clean and sterile environment in the dialysis unit. Collaboration with
Healthcare Team:
Collaborate with nephrologists, other nurses, dialysis technicians, dietitians, and social workers to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients undergoing in-clinic hemodialysis treatment.
Sample Duties:
Understanding that "Job 1 = patient's well, all is swell", that essential job duties are to fulfill Carmen's MiViVa, company objectives and clinic goals, satisfy the essential and key job responsibilities, and that no job description could ever list all duties, sample duties include: Manages delivery of patient treatments on assigned shifts Ensures patient's safety and care Conducts reassessment of a patient's medical condition as indicated Monitors patients' response to dialysis therapy Maintains open communication between patient care staff, physicians, support staff and management team Monitors clinical area to ensure cleanliness and absence of debris Ensures necessary information is provided to the business office in a timely manner Evaluates vascular access pre-treatment and performs vascular access cannulation Evaluates intradialytic problems and provides intervention as prescribed by physician order or as directed Reports all incidents, complaints, or problems to the Clinic Manager in a timely manner Facilitates communication between the patient, patient's "family" and other team members to help resolve problems or issues Is familiar with all emergency equipment and emergency procedures Identifies and reports potential hazards Assists with improving patient outcomes through tracking and trending of program and patient performance, use of critical thinking skills and root cause analysis to improve patient and quality outcomes. May assist in obtaining data for the continuous quality improvement activities. Obtains routine and non-routine laboratory tests as ordered and communicates critical lab values and urgent patient needs to the responsible physician or physician extender in a timely manner. May complete and document monthly review of patient medication profiles as directed Monitors supply usage to maximize efficiency while providing quality patient care Coordinates with Chief Technician any necessitated immediate repair of equipment Ensures necessary information is provided to the business office in a timely manner Meets with Clinic Manager, Medical Director, CEO and/or Administrator regarding important issues Knows and understands all facility policies and procedures Complies with all HIPAA regulations
Qualifications:
Educational Background and Certification:
Current RN license in Texas. All licenses must be maintained as current and in good standing. Must obtain an applicable state license, based on assignment, within state specified time frames. CPR certification required prior to patient care assignment.
Clinical Experience:
1-2 years or more current nursing experience; minimum of 1 year experience in dialysis in the last 18 months. If no experience, 6 months out of the 1 year of dialysis experience required in modality to be Charge capable.
Knowledge of Hemodialysis Procedures:
Understanding of hemodialysis principles, procedures, and equipment operation, including knowledge of dialysis machines, water treatment systems, and vascular access care.
Infection Control and Safety Practices:
Familiarity with infection control protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements relevant to hemodialysis treatment settings.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team.
Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills:
Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to respond calmly and efficiently to medical emergencies or complications during dialysis treatment. Attention to
