Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dependable First and Second Shift Diesel Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of diesel-powered and natural gas vehicles to ensure they operate safely and efficiently.
First Shift hours:
Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 5:00 pm, with rotating Saturdays.
Second Shift Hours:
Monday
  • Thursday
  • 3:00 pm to 1:00 am, Friday
  • 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
Responsibilities:
Repairing electrical problems, air leaks, and ABS systems. Troubleshooting and diagnosing drivetrain, engine, and body-related issues Using shop laptops to diagnose truck issues. Test drive equipment. Repairing and replacing lights. General inspection of equipment. Diagnose hydraulics and PTO pumps. Inspecting and replacing tires. Assist other departments when needed such as swapping/dumping trucks on routes. Installation and diagnostic of onboard computers and electronics. Maintenance of trucks and fleet vehicles, drive-up repairs, road calls, clean-up calls, and repairing any off-site damages. Other duties as assigned. Desired experience/skills for Diesel Mechanic include: CDL Class B minimum preferred. Candidate must have 1 to 5 years of experience. Experience with CNG-powered vehicles is a plus. Mechanical background Knowledge of electrical components is required. Basic understanding of brakes and suspension systems is a plus. Applicants must be able to successfully pass a DOT, physical agility exam, and pre-employment drug test. Applicants must be able to lift up to 100 lbs. and push-pull up to 200 lbs. Training is essential to developing a top-performing team of technicians. Considerable effort is put into training various specialties of technicians at All Waste. Training through Cummins, various CNG training organizations, and other in-person and online education venues are available and encouraged for AWI technicians. Applicants should have proven mechanical skills on medium and heavy-duty trucks, and computer aptitude-specific refuse vehicle systems training can be provided to the right candidate.
