Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential support to individuals with disabilities in various settings, including assisted living and home health environments. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for those they assist by promoting independence, dignity, and respect for resident rights. This position requires a commitment to patient care and the ability to work effectively with individuals who have developmental disabilities. Duties Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration. Monitor and record vital signs as needed, ensuring that any changes in health status are communicated to appropriate personnel. Support residents in developing life skills and achieving personal goals through tailored assistance and encouragement. Maintain a safe and clean environment for residents, adhering to all health and safety regulations. Advocate for resident rights and ensure that their preferences and choices are respected. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other staff to create comprehensive care plans. Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of individuals under your care. Participate in training sessions and ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in patient care. Qualifications Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred; familiarity with both developmental disabilities and physical disabilities is a plus. Knowledge of resident rights and the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of those you support. Skills in medication administration, vital signs monitoring, meal preparation, first aid, and patient care are highly desirable. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment. Compassionate demeanor with a genuine interest in helping others achieve their fullest potential. A valid driver's license may be required depending on job location.
