Job Description

Position Title:
Direct Support Professional (DSP) -
Awake Overnight Location:
Adult IDD Residential Group Home Position Summary:
The Awake Overnight Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides continuous, alert supervision and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) during overnight hours. Working under the supervision of the DSP Lead and Residential Services Coordinator, this role is responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and comfort of residents throughout the night while maintaining the home environment and preparing for the next day's operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Remain awake, alert, and attentive for the entire shift to ensure resident safety and supervision Conduct routine checks on residents throughout the night, ensuring health, safety, and comfort Provide assistance as needed with nighttime routines, toileting, repositioning, or other support needs Monitor for and respond appropriately to behavioral, medical, or emergency situations following established protocols Complete required documentation accurately, including overnight logs, progress notes, and incident reports Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment, including completing assigned housekeeping tasks Prepare the home for the next shift (e.g., light cleaning, organizing supplies, breakfast prep as assigned) Communicate any concerns, incidents, or changes in resident condition to the DSP Lead and Residential Services Coordinator Follow all Individual Support Plans (ISPs), behavior support plans, and healthcare protocols Adhere to all company policies, state regulations, and licensing requirements
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required Experience working with individuals with IDD or in a caregiving role preferred Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accountability Strong attention to detail and ability to remain alert during overnight hours Effective communication and problem-solving skills Compassionate, dependable, and professional Valid driver's license and ability to meet background screening requirements
Work Environment & Expectations:
Must remain awake for the full duration of the overnight shift Quiet, low-activity environment with intermittent need for immediate response Ability to respond quickly to emergencies or resident needs May require light physical activity, including lifting, standing, or assisting residents Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
