Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, autism, and other health conditions. In this vital role, you will empower residents to live as independently as possible while ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. Your energetic approach will foster a positive environment where residents feel valued, respected, and supported every day. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives through personalized care and attentive support. Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident's personal devices. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient behavior, and reporting changes in condition promptly. Administer medication following care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary needs and assist residents during meal times to promote independence and social engagement. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties including cleaning resident rooms, common areas, and ensuring infection control protocols are followed. Support residents during community outings or activities to promote social interaction and community integration. Document all care activities accurately in resident records, including progress notes, incident reports, and updates to care plans. Experience Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred. Knowledge of patient care techniques such as CPR and first aid. Training is provided and paid for. Experience with medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and patient observation is preferred. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality of resident information at all times. Demonstrated ability to lift heavy objects safely and assist residents with mobility. Previous work in home health or community care environments that involve caregiving for seniors or individuals with developmental disabilities enhances your suitability for this role. Strong social work understanding helps in developing personalized care plans that meet each resident's unique needs.
