Job Description

Job Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and become a vital part of empowering individuals with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives. In this energetic and rewarding role, you will provide personalized support, foster community engagement, and promote positive behaviors. Your compassionate approach will help create a safe, nurturing environment where individuals can thrive and achieve their goals. This paid position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day while developing valuable skills in caregiving, communication, and behavioral health. Duties Assist individuals with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and medication administration Support participation in community outings, recreational activities, and social events to promote independence and social skills Implement behavior management strategies to encourage positive behaviors and address challenging behaviors effectively Collect data on progress toward individual goals and maintain accurate documentation for program planning and compliance Use effective communication skills, including American Sign Language if applicable, to facilitate understanding and connection Provide transportation for appointments, activities, or errands by driving safely and responsibly Collaborate with families, case managers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support tailored to each individual's needs Requirements Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly preferred Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health practices is advantageous Experience in home & community care environments or caregiving roles is beneficial Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships are essential Ability to assist with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) such as bathing, grooming, and mobility support Familiarity with data collection methods for tracking progress and behavioral incidents Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for transportation responsibilities Willingness to obtain or have current certifications in medication administration or behavior management as required by state regulations This role is perfect for compassionate individuals eager to make a positive impact through direct support work.
